“SPIRITUAL DEGRADATION” OF HOMO CULTURES IN V. S. MAKANIN’S NOVEL “ASAN”

Abstract.
The article considers spiritual degradation of the modern homo cultures in V. S. Makanin’s novel “Asan”. The novel shows how homo cultures under the influence of circumstances changes his lifestyle and how it affects his relations with the society and surrounding people. The paper aims to tackle the problem of degradation of human values, to analyze how the writer reveals the motive of the hero’s degradation. The analysis indicates that the personage’s spiritual involution is shown through family relations, the motive of duplicity, the theme of consciousness and the motive of the individual’s depersonalization, his transformation into non-personal “me”.
