ON THE “CULTURAL TURN” IN CONTEMPORARY TRANSLATION STUDIES

Abstract.
The article is devoted to studying the problems of correlation between culture and translation, which are newly interpreted in some modern theories of translation, where particular importance is attributed to historical and cultural context, ideology and manipulation. Special attention is given to the notions of polysystem and norm that have significantly changed prospects for further translation studies. The author also touches upon the issues related to the perception of translation, when translation is a transfer of not linguistic material, but certain cultural, ideological and/or political content from one language to another.
