Abstract.
The article is devoted to the linguistic analysis of the means of information warfare. The material for the analysis is modern English political discourse. Some characteristic methods for modifying the meaning of separate linguistic units as well as larger segments of discourse are analyzed. The novelty of the work is that for the first time linguistic means and techniques of information warfare are singled out with the help of linguostylistic analysis. As a result of the research, the author shows how during the mutual influence of different aspects of the meaning within a language unit certain processes occur, such as displacing one meaning with another, dimming the meaning and completely changing the meaning of a linguistic unit, allowing the text to be used for geopolitical purposes.
