PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLATION OF THE ENGLISH FIGURATIVE SPEECH UNITS: LINGUOCULTUROLOGICAL ASPECT

Abstract. The need to consider foreign languages as inextricably linked to the culture of the peoples, who speak them, is increasingly evident. This directly affects the translation process. A prerequisite for the most accurate rendering of the figurative speech units, reflecting the facts of material and spiritual life in another language, is the translator’s knowledge of these peculiarities. The linguoculturological analysis of figurative units in context is of particular interest. An important place in the article is given to such a notion as background information. Observations are provided that will be useful for novice translators.
