MAN AND WOMAN IN THE ENGLISH ANTI-PROVERBS

Abstract.
The purpose of the article is to analyse the representation of gender relations in the English anti-proverbs against the background of their proverbial representation. As a result of the research, the presentation of gender relations as unequal ones, the displacement of the vector of gender inequality towards the man and the intensification of the negative side of gender relations in anti-proverbs are revealed. The author gives a brief description of anti-proverbs’ semantic structure and the way of expressing gender inequality in them. The researches of the anti-proverb representation of gender inequality compared to the corresponding proverbial one have not been conducted before.
