INTERPRETATION OF THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON IN THE NOVEL BY KAFA AL-ZOOBI “RETURN HOME, KHALIL”

Abstract. The article considers the interpretation of the Old Testament parable of the prodigal son in the novel by the Jordanian authoress Kafa Al-Zoobi “Return Home, Khalil”. A Palestinian youth, who lost his relatives and temporary refuge, answers the call of the ancestors and returns to his native land seeking to acquire home and family. The return heals him from depression; he founds friends and starts to struggle for justice. Didacticism of the novel-parable helps to achieve a better understanding of the hero’s mission and to attract public attention to the Palestinian problem.
