Methodological Potential of F. Schleiermacher’s Hermeneutical Theory (Based on the Analysis of Light and Darkness Concepts in S. Rushdie’s Novel “Joseph Anton” and Seasons in H. Adams’s Novel “The Education of Henry Adams”)

Abstract.
The article considers such issues as the place of the author’s intention in the structure of an autobiographical novel and the scientist’s intuitive perception. The problem of manifestation of the author’s objective and intuitive intention is examined. It is proved that apparently obvious oppositions found in Salman Rushdie’s novel “Joseph Anton” and Henry Adams’s novel “The Education of Henry Adams” have undergone artistic transformation. The detailed analysis of the basic oppositions in the novels by S. Rushdie and H. Adams is conducted in the context of Friedrich Schleiermacher’s hermeneutical theory, which is relevant for modern literary criticism.
