Abstract. The article analyses the nominations participating in mythologization of A. Lincoln’s personality. Special attention is paid to the fact that certain nominations transfer to the category of proper names. Originality of the study lies in the fact that onymization is considered within the framework of the linguo-semiotic approach, as a process of the interpretant transformation: the immediate interpretant - the dynamic interpretant - the final interpretant. The findings indicate that the final interpretant identifying function endows nomination with the status of a proper name.
