Abstract.
The paper considers poetics of the famous novel by the modern Turkish authoress S. Kaygusuz “Yüzünde Bir Yer” (“A Place on Your Face”) (2009). The researcher analyses the novel’s narrative structure, system of images, traces influence of the Biblical-Koranic and Alevi traditions on the development of the main personage’s image whose inner self is divided. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that S. Kaygusuz’s novelism has not been previously investigated in the domestic Turkish studies. The following conclusions are justified: S. Kaygusuz’s poetics is a new phenomenon in the Turkish XXI-century literature; in the analysed work, the accent is shifted from acute social problematics towards deeper psychological problems; when developing the personages’ images, the authoress focuses on their unstable inner world.
