Abstract.
The study aims to identify linguistic features typical of how the society’s environmental awareness is represented in the English-language Internet space. The article analyses linguistic and extra-linguistic features of posts on environmental topics published on the social network Instagram including means of verbal and evocative influence, which contribute to elucidation of the concept of the society’s environmental awareness. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that using Instagram accounts of environmental organisations and environmentalists (greenpeace, zeroxplastic, eco_together, etc.), the authors have identified and analysed linguistic features typical of how the society’s environmental awareness is represented. As a result of the study, it has been proved that the most common ways of representing the society’s environmental awareness in Instagram publications are lexico-stylistic and syntactic linguistic means combined with graphic highlighting and creolisation.
