Abstract.
The research objective includes identifying specificity of developing Volga Bulgaria image in the Chuvash historical dramaturgy. This image symbolizes grandeur of the Chuvash state, it is associated with the Chuvash national identity. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the problem of Volga Bulgaria image representation in the Chuvash literature has not been previously investigated in the Chuvash literary criticism. The findings indicate that the theme of the ancient Bulgarian state inspired the Chuvash dramatists of different generations. Reconstructing glorious historical events, writers assert the idea of immortal value of cultural and historical heritage.
