Speech Strategies and Tactics of Directive Speech Acts in Media Texts Covering Coronavirus Vaccination Campaign

Abstract.
The study aims to identify features of using directive speech acts in pro-government outlets. Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that directive speech acts and means of their expression in the modern mass media are identified on the basis of J. Searle’s theory. The news items about vaccination against coronavirus published on websites of the outlets “RIA Novosti”, “ITAR-TASS”, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” have been analysed, and popular speech strategies and tactics for these acts implementation have been identified (in particular, the speech strategies of suggestion, argumentation, persuasion and inducement). As a result, purposes and reasons for using directive speech acts in the media texts covering vaccination against coronavirus are determined.
