Abstract.
The purpose of the research is to determine the level of professional literary mastery of the ballad genre in creative work of the Kabardian poet, writer and playwright Boris Kuneevich Utizhev. The article analyses the ballad “The Song”, which is the poet’s only work in the considered genre. Scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that this ballad became a subject of a separate comprehensive (in terms of form and content unity) study for the first time. As a result, the researchers have identified the ballad content-related and structural-compositional features in B. Utizhev’s creative work, provided a genre characteristic of “The Song”, proved that the poetic piece is consistent with the genre stated by the author.
