Abstract. The paper aims to reveal the functioning specifics of phraseological units in the English movie discourse. “Sherlock” serial script served as the research material. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying idioms contributing to realization of implicit discursive strategies. As a result, it is shown that phraseological units participate in the formation of the movie personage’s image, help to reveal personages’ illocutive intentions, transfer hints concerning potential criminals, promote positive values, express spatial-temporal relations.
