Elements of Androcentrism in Modern Karachai Poetry (by the Material of M. Duraev’s Creative Work)

Abstract. The paper aims mainly to identify the elements of androcentrism in Karachai literature, involving the creative work of the modern bilingual poet Marat Duraev. The research is novel in that it is the first to carry out a gender exploration of the author’s military and deportation poetry with broader use of the facts of national history and North Caucasian gender stereotypes. The research findings show that in general, M. Duraev’s poetry is focused on an androcentric worldview, where highlanders’ spiritual and ethical constants (homeland, honour, togetherness, perseverance, diligence, faith), as well as the peculiarities of men’s speech behaviour in various communicative situations are reproduced.
