Images-Standards of the Sphere of Objects in French, Spanish and Italian Linguocultures (Typological Aspect)

Abstract.
The aim of the research is to identify universals and particulars among the images-standards of the sphere of objects reflecting the ideas of personality traits that are stereotypical for the national-cultural worldview of the French, Spaniards and Italians. The main attention is paid to the consideration of the notions of “typical figurative representation” and “image-standard”, on the basis of which the authors of the paper provide the key definitions of the universal image and the particular image. The universal/particular nature of images-standards serves in the paper as the main classification criterion for their distribution into three groups. Within each of the identified groups, a comparative analysis of the linguistic exponents of the images-standards of the sphere of objects and the stereotypical ideas about personality traits in three linguocultures associated with them is carried out. The scientific novelty of the research lies in applying the principles of typological classification to the images-standards of the sphere of objects associated with the stereotypical ideas about personality traits: it is the first time that their universal/particular nature within French, Spanish and Italian linguocultures is identified from the standpoint of typology. As a result of the research, it has been found that the considered images-standards of the sphere of objects are predominantly particular in nature for representatives of all three linguocultures.
