Comparative phraseological units of the German language with a zoonym component (semantic and linguocultural aspects)

Abstract.
The aim of the research is to determine the content structure of fixed similes of the German language with images-standards expressed by zoonyms, as well as the features of the cultural connotation of objects and grounds for comparison in the German-language worldview. The scientific novelty of the research lies in establishing the main meanings carried by fixed similes with zoonyms in the German language, in identifying the culture-specific components of the semantics of these comparative phraseological units. As a result, it has been proved that the semantic content of fixed similes of the German language with zoonyms is characterised by anthropocentricity, since they denote external characteristics and internal qualities (including character traits), physical actions, physiological and emotional states peculiar to a person and also record the value representations of native German speakers about important phenomena. The cultural uniqueness of comparative phraseological units with zoonyms is manifested both in the use of culture-specific images-standards, as well as in the culture-specific interpretation of well-known animal names.
