Abstract.
The reviewed book by V. I. Korovin examines the evolution of the life and creative path of I. A. Krylov, raises important problems related to the biography and the formation of the artistic method of the great fabulist. The author, defining the origins of his worldview, considers it necessary to convey to the reader the originality of the epoch of the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. In his research, he relies on the memoirs of contemporaries, correspondence and historical documents. He deeply analyzes the works of literary critics.
