Abstract.
This work explores the nationally marked cultural connotation of French phraseological units with an anthroponym component through linguocultural and phraseosemantic analysis of a thematic group of phraseological units with names of historical figures. The aim of the study is to identify the specifics of the national phraseocultural connotation of phraseological units with an anthroponym that is the name of a historical figure. Following V. N. Telia, the phraseological cultural connotation is understood as both the specificity of the secondary interpretation of the motivating basis of a phraseological unit and the originality of the selection of linguistic means forming this motivating basis. The scientific novelty of the study consists, firstly, in the development of a classification of French phraseological units with an anthroponym component, based on the historical and cultural conditioning of the anthroponym. Secondly, the study of the cultural background made it possible to motivate the mechanisms underlying the formation of figurative phraseological meanings in these phraseological units by isolating and analyzing the culture-bearing component, and therefore, to comprehensively interpret their semantics. As a result, the implicit, predominantly allusive nature of the culturally marked semes of phraseological units with the names of historical figures was established, the historical and etymological foundations of their origin were studied. In addition, the leading associative semes forming the culturally marked connotation of anthroponyms (the names of historical figures) in the French phraseocontext were identified.
