Abstract.
The aim of the research is to identify the functional-pragmatic potential of convergent lexemes with borrowed components -manie-, -itis in contemporary German. The article examines new lexemes formed with the help of these formants, determines the scope of their use, connotative meaning, and stylistic coloring. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that the new lexemes are studied from the perspective of structural-semantic description and linguo-pragmatic use. It has been established that words with the formants -manie (-man), -itis are colloquialisms formed by analogy with usual patterns. It is shown that the lexical units under study are expressive-evaluative vocabulary with a connotative meaning. Unlimited distribution, based on the combinatorial possibilities of borrowed formants, indicates the extensive lexico-semantic potential of new derivatives. As a result of the research, it has been proven that with the help of the component -manie (-man), lexemes are formed to express a negative critical assessment, while the suffix -itis is used to form words with a jocular-ironic coloring.
