Abstract.
The aim of the study is to identify the features of speech changes in individuals in conflict-prone situations at the prosody level based on the English and German languages. The article considers the comparison of prosodic characteristics of the English and German languages – the frequency of the fundamental tone, intensity and duration, realized in everyday conflict situations. After the study, a linguistic interpretation is given based on the obtained data. The objectivity of the obtained data is achieved through a step-by-step study using the Praat and SPSS computer programs and statistical methods. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that it is the first one to consider the comparison of the English and German languages within conflict situations at the prosodic level. The experimental and phonetic study found that the prosody of the English and German languages does not have significant differences in conflict-prone situations. This is expressed in a similar movement of the melodic, dynamic and temporal contour in certain areas of the speech utterance and in the coincidence of the localization of the maximum indicators for the frequency of the fundamental tone and intensity. However, there are certain phonetic differences between the languages.
