Abstract.
The article examines the content structure of the polysemous word “оджакъ” in the Crimean Tatar language. It analyzes the ways of forming lexico-semantic variants as well as the types of relations between them. The aim of the study is to determine the semantic structure of the polysemant “оджакъ”. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that, for the first time in Crimean Tatar linguistics, the features of the semantic structure of this linguistic unit are examined in detail. The study is based on examples from works of fiction and journalistic literature. The analysis identified ten meanings within the semantic structure of the polysemous word “оджакъ”. The results showed that the meanings forming the content structure of the lexeme “оджакъ” are connected by a radial-catenative type of relation and that in eight cases they originated through metaphorical transfer based on similarity in appearance and function, while one meaning was formed as a result of metonymic transfer. The findings can be used in compiling explanatory and translation dictionaries of the Crimean Tatar language, as well as in studying semantic processes in Turkic languages.
