Abstract. The reviewed collective monograph represents the result of research on linguistic and cultural contacts in the context of social transformations among national minorities of the Alpine-Pannonian region, and is based on unique field data collected by the authors over the period 2012-2023, as well as on archival work and analysis of modern publications on this topic. The focus is on such ethnic communities as Hungarians in Vojvodina (Serbia), Hungarians in Slavonia (Croatia), Hungarians in Prekmurje (Slovenia), Slovenes in the province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Italy), Czechs in Slavonia (Croatia), Czechs in Vojvodina (Serbia), and Italians in the Slovenian part of Istria. Linguistic and cultural essays dedicated to these ethnic communities are supplemented by narratives recorded during field research. The appendices provide a lexico-thematic index to the published texts, a bibliographic list of articles published by the research team during the work on the reviewed monograph, and maps indicating the settlements in which the published texts were recorded.
