The ethnic joke in the Latin American discursive space: a linguo-pragmatic aspect

Abstract.
The aim of this research is to develop a methodology for a polyparadigmatic analysis of the Latin American ethnic joke as part of interethnic discourse. The article analyzes ethnic jokes from a number of Latin American countries, which makes it possible to identify certain patterns of their origin and existence. The joke in the context of interethnic relations is considered as a discursive phenomenon, which implies a comprehensive study of the text, taking into account the place and time of its origin and use, historical, political, and cultural contexts, as well as comprehensive characteristics of communication participants and their pragmatic attitudes. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that, for the first time in Russian linguistics, the ethnic joke has been described as a means of forming a national picture of the world and national identity, as well as stereotypical ideas of one nation about another through cognitive programming of members of one cultural and linguistic community within the framework of interethnic discourse. As a result of the research, the authors provide a comprehensive characterization and definition of the ethnic joke as a special precedent phenomenon that reflects and shapes interethnic stereotypes, and also justify the feasibility of its further study, which will provide extensive material for cross-cultural research both in the field of linguistics and in the field of sociology and political science.
