Abstract.
The article is dedicated to the study of the influence of the work of the French poet Francis Jammes on the formation of Ilya Ehrenburg’s artistic method and worldview. The study examines Ehrenburg’s aesthetic positions, which were formed under the influence of Jammes, and demonstrates why Jammes’s work became an important stage in the formation of Ehrenburg’s individual voice as a wordsmith. The study aims to describe the specific nature of the influence of Francis Jammes’s work on the formation of Ilya Ehrenburg’s individual artistic method and worldview, demonstrating how this interaction contributed to the formation of an original writing style and the expansion of Ehrenburg’s horizons of artistic perception in the context of cultural changes in the early 20th century. The scientific novelty of the study is determined by the emphasis on the previously little-studied aspect of the significance of Franco-Russian contact for the formation of Ehrenburg’s individual writing style. The results showed that acquaintance with Francis Jammes served as a starting point for the transformation of Ehrenburg’s views, overcoming the internal dilemma and turning to a new artistic paradigm. The concept of simple faith, closeness to folk tradition, and the ability to see the divine principle in the ordinary became central motifs of Ehrenburg’s first poetic experiences.
