Abstract.
The article examines the axiological aspect of political communication in news reports, in particular the mechanisms of actualization of the addresser’s value attitudes in them, which influence the perception of reality by the mass addressee and shape their value-based worldview. Special attention is paid to the value dimension of the realization of the phenomenon of the “double standards” policy. The aim of the study is to determine the role of axiological components in shaping the variable interpretation of identical events in news reports. The scientific novelty of the work consists in showing for the first time the role of the axiological structure of the news text as a specific means of realizing the phenomenon of the policy of “double standards”. The material of the study is a microcorpus of 40 news reports in English, Russian, and Ukrainian about the Russia-US summit in Anchorage, reflecting three communicative positions. As a result, it is established that the value organization of the news text determines the variable axiological interpretation of identical events in accordance with the communicative position of the addresser and serves as an instrument for the actualization of the phenomenon of the “double standards” policy.
