Action initiation algorithms in multiscale recursions (using the example of the “intervention” metaphor in medical discourse)

Abstract.
The aim of this research is to develop algorithms for initiating actions actualized by the lexeme “intervention” based on medical English language material. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that linguistic scales are superimposed on all mental scales exhibiting properties of scale invariance, recursion, and expansion. It is revealed that mental metaphorical activity is non-linear, amorphous, and manifests in multi-scale recursions of cognitive and linguistic activity. As a result of the study, it was established that the laws of fractal semiotics and metaphorization play an important role in the linguistic comprehension of medicine’s scientific worldview. The analysis of the lexeme “intervention” in medical English revealed the scope of its metaphorical meaning. It is proven that the recursion of metaphor manifests in two aspects: metaphor functions as a model of the world which, in any countless fractional variations, is self-similar; and, from the perspective of formal expression, it is initiated through fractional and repetitive algorithms of formal expression. Fractal and metaphor are realized in specific algorithms for initiating actions within medical discourse.
