Religious-humanistic vocabulary as a semantic-functional component of the construct of historical mentality in N. A. Berdyaev’s philosophical texts

Abstract.
The purpose of the study is to identify the semantic-functional characteristics of vocabulary reflecting religious-humanistic content within the constructs of historical mentality in N. A. Berdyaev’s texts. The article examines lexical markers of religious-humanistic content: religious terms, anthropological nominations, ethical-evaluative lexemes, metaphorical and figurative representations, biblical allusions, and quotes. Special attention is paid to describing their semantic-functional characteristics, as well as to determining the role of these markers in constructing historical mentality. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, for the first time, based on the material of Berdyaev’s philosophical works, a corpus of religious-humanistic vocabulary used by the philosopher in his writings has been formed and systematized, with the identification of thematic groups and key markers that define the semantic organization of the historical-mental landscape. As a result of the study, it was established that religious-humanistic vocabulary in Berdyaev’s constructs of historical mentality acts not only as an important element of his individual style but also as a system-forming component that sets the semantic coordinates for the perception of history and humanity within the historical process. Such vocabulary performs multifaceted functions: it imbues the utterance with metaphysical and moral meaning, shapes a teleological perspective of historical development, personifies history through anthropological nominations, and carries out a normative evaluation of actions and phenomena.
