Abstract. I. Z. Surat’s book is dedicated to the history of Russian lyric poetry from the late 18th century to the present day. By exploring selected poems by Derzhavin, Pushkin, Tyutchev, Blok, Mandelstam, and other poets, which are united by recurring images and motifs (“The Tree”, “The Dream”, “The Walk”, etc.), the author provides a comprehensive analysis, revealing the complex network of associations and meanings surrounding each of these poems. This work solves a dual task: it deepens the scientific study of poetics and simultaneously serves an educational purpose – it helps the reader to understand and appreciate the poetic word.
