Abstract. The study aims to identify the typological features of contemporary discourse usage in British English, examining not only the transmission of communicative information but also the ways in which British thought patterns are formed and reflected. The research methodology draws on principles of linguistic stylistics and semiopragmatics, applied through the analysis of authentic British discourse segments. The study’s scientific novelty lies primarily in transcending the traditional microlinguistic model by inte-grating contextual aspects and information-exchange dynamics; this allows for the analysis of discourse in real-world communicative situations. The results reveal an active evolution of pragmatic markers in British narratives – reflecting a more flexible management of politeness and social engagement – as well as the impact of digital technologies on the linguo-cognitive processes involved in remodeling the category of “British identity”. Future research within the framework of the cognitive-communicative analysis of contemporary British discourse is linked to updated perspectives in critical discourse analysis, the application of innovative mechanisms from cognitive science, and upcoming constructive modifications to the British National Corpus.
