JOS? ORTEGA Y GASSET ON EXISTENTIAL PREREQUISITES OF MODERN TECHNICS

Abstract. The interpretation of technics essence in the philosophical conception of Ortega y Gasset is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the thesis about the primacy of the way of a human’s being in relation to the historically specific type of technical equipment. It is shown that the traditional instrumentalist interpretation of technics by Ortega y Gasset is combined with existentialist understanding of a human as a "project" and a "life program".
