The aim of this work book is to help students master different types of reading professional texts which is necessary for future engineers and to form the skills of oral and written speech and translation. Students master language skills effectively due to the system of exercises, stimulating creativity and interest in future profession.

This work book can be used while working with first- and second-year technical students. It helps to develop the skills of oral and written speech and translation, creativity and the ability to read authentic professional texts. This work book provides the expansion of students’ vocabulary and the intensive activization of accumulated lexical units, the development of the skills of reviewing and translating professional texts from English into Russian. The work book helps to develop communicative and discussion skills and acquaints the students with authentic English prose and the peculiarities of everyday and professional life in the United Kingdom and the USA.
The work book comprises two parts (Part I is for first-year students and Part II is for second-year students). The work book comprises four chapters, and each chapter comprises four blocks:
