SEMANTIC FIELD OF WORDS AND ITS ELEMENTS

Abstract. The paper enlarges upon the problem of contensive aspect of the notions "semantic field" (SF), "thematic group" (TG), and "lexical-semantic group" (LSG). The issue of multiplicity of extralinguistic characteristics of realias and semantic bonds in language is discussed, and the principles of differentiation of SF and TG, LSG and TG are determined. The author makes a conclusion that the variety of characteristics of word stipulates the variety of grouping of lexis whose analysis should be based on single or linguistic, or extralinguistic characteristics. Semantic fields represent the peculiarities of perception of the world around by a certain lingual group.
