FEATURES OF FUNCTIONING OF ZOONYMS FOX AND WOLF IN THE RUSSIAN AND TURKISH PHRASEOLOGY

Omer Bicer
Smolensk State University

Abstract. The article gives the comparative analysis of animalistic images "fox" and "wolf" in the Russian and Turkish phraseology; considers what definite qualities of a particular animal are represented in proverbs of the Russian and Turkish languages and which of them are fixed in dictionaries. Comparing zoonyms in a proverbial sentence and figurative meanings of the noun denoting the same animal, the author came to the conclusion that figurative meaning is not always the source of connotation. The images of animals in proverbs and sayings are wider and more diverse in comparison with figurative meanings of the nouns naming these images.
