URBAN AND NATURAL SPACE IN THE POEMS FROM THE NOVEL BY B. PASTERNAK "DOCTOR ZHIVAGO"

Abstract. The article examines the problem of urban and natural space in the poems from the novel by B. Pasternak "Doctor Zhivago" ("Hamlet", "White Night"). These spaces can interrelate differently: to cross, to oppose, but on the whole the natural and urban in the novel supplement each other and create an integrated harmonious world. The poem "Hamlet" is associated with the city through the theatrical motives and "White Night" contains the "urbanism language" elements which are most clearly manifested in the opposition of Petersburg and forest landscapes. But the Petersburg’s image in the poem is ambiguous, it combines the features of natural and urban space. So, the nature and urban realia appeared to be important both in the prosaic and poetical parts of the novel.
