Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of translation of the Russian, English and German terminological and special vocabulary. The mechanisms of metaphor used in the semantic derivation of common vocabulary, developing terminological and special meanings, including those not recorded in lexicographic sources, are considered. The article suggests the ways to convey terms and special words formed on the basis of metaphors.
