ON GRAMMATICAL TERMINOLOGY IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE PHILOLOGY

Abstract. The article examines the Chinese classical linguistic terms associated with grammatical articulation of the vocabulary. The author describes the origin and development of the following pair terms: notional ("full-value") - auxiliary ("empty") words, "movable" - "static" words, "living" - "dead" words. The paper identifies the typical features of each of the categories, draws parallels with the modern Chinese grammatical conceptions, and discovers the general peculiarities of terminology.
