LOKI IMAGE IN THE HUMOROUS DISCOURSE OF SCANDINAVIAN MYTHS

Abstract. The article examines the role of Loki god in the humorous discourse of Old Scandinavian mythological tradition. Studying Loki image and his speech peculiarities showed that he is a typical example of epic trickster. Loki behaviour as a trickster is analyzed by the material of "Elder" and "Younger Edda". The analysis identified the basic speech features of this personage of Scandinavian folklore. The author also discovered the influence of Loki phenomenon on comic genre formation in the literature, art and culture on the whole.
