Abstract. Foreign readers’ interest in N. Zabolotsky’s creative heritage that increased in the last decades of the XX century stipulates relevance of this work, the purpose of which is to reveal how successfully the "details" of the poetic universe created by Zabolotsky were represented in translations of his poems into English. The main task is to determine the degree of accuracy of translation of Zabolotsky’s word usage and the features of his worldview into English, particularly in those poems, which are associated with the image or motives of "Reason". The conducted research has shown that the theme of "reasonable being" is very difficult for translators. Misunderstanding of the fundamental bases of the poet’s creative work leads to appearance of semantic, stylistic and other inaccuracies in translations. The materials of the article can be used for reading lectures and special courses on translation, as well as in the practice of translating poetic texts from Russian into English.
