FORMATION OF READING COMPREHENSION SKILLS WHEN TEACHING THE STATE LANGUAGE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO CHILDREN WHO ARE INCOMPETENT OR LOW COMPETENT IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article discusses the methodology to form reading comprehension skills when teaching the state language of the Russian Federation to children who are incompetent or low competent in the Russian language. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that recently there has been an increasing number of multi-ethnic learners who are incompetent or low competent in the Russian language; the importance of reading skills in the formation of an intellectual and creative personality is emphasized. The research objective is to develop a series of exercises promoting the formation of reading skills and a system of pre-, while- and post-reading exercises, which help to overcome difficulties facing the teachers of Russian who work with the children incompetent or low competent in the state language of the Russian Federation. The analysis of the learners’ mistakes when reading aloud and silently has allowed the authors to propose a series of exercises promoting the formation of reading skills and a system of pre-, while- and post-reading exercises including interactive tasks focused on the formation of reading comprehension skills.
