STYLISTIC MEANS AND TECHNIQUES TO CREATE A MOVIE PERSONAGE’S IMAGE IN THE ENGLISH FILM SCRIPT (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE HISTORICAL TV SERIAL "VICTORIA")

Abstract. The article examines stylistic means to represent the image of an important historical figure - Queen Victoria - in a popular English TV serial. The analysis shows that stylistic means and techniques immediately participate in the formation of the movie personage’s image and transfer the complexity of her character and the key features of her personality. Among the most frequent stylistic techniques, the author mentions the following ones: sarcasm, comparison, irony and metaphor, antithesis, gradation. They serve to express the Queen’s strong-willed character, wilfulness, adequate perception of the surrounding world and the monarch’s talent.
