Abstract. The article analyses onym structure and functions by the material of science fiction of different authors. The research is focused on proper names referring to artificial names including anthroponyms, cosmonyms, oikonyms, etc. The phono-semantic analysis indicates that the acoustic content of anthroponyms correlates with their inner form. Onym’s function is to identify science fiction personages, to introduce them into the story. Proper names serve not only to reveal the author’s technique of their usage in the text but to identify the peculiarities of the author’s word creation.
Key words and phrases: собственное имя, оним, ономастикон, фоносемантический анализ, функция онимов, научная фантастика, proper name, onym, onomasticon, phono-semantic analysis, function of onyms, science fiction
