Abstract. The author analyzes the features of the geopolitical processes within Caucasus region, shows that the geopolitical situation and its development within Trans-Caucasian region are currently characterized by the collision of a number of interstate and cross-national interests, armed conflicts and tension centres, by the unstable nature of new independent states formation in this region of the world accompanied by continuing rivalry and struggle at international, regional and global levels for the spheres of influence and the control over resources in the region and reveals the necessity to find common ground between world and regional powers within South Caucasus.
