SINGING CANON AND ITS TRANSFORMATION IN NEW TREND COMPOSERS' CREATIVE WORKS AT THE END OF THE XIXTH - THE BEGINNING OF THE XXTH CENTURY

Abstract. The author sets the task to consider the effect of the preservation and transformation of artistic canon by the example of zadostoinik (a type of liturgical carol in the Eucharistic canon of the Orthodox liturgy) of A. A. Arkhangel'skii and P. G. Chesnokov, basing on the results of the analysis substantiates for the first time in literature that there exist texts with a persistent canonized structure type in Orthodox liturgical singing which have the freedom of musical interpretation, and mentions that it is possible to gain a wide variety of music by preserving the single text and composition structure while using different melodic and graphic formulas.
