Abstract. The author discusses the question of a mass consumption society individual's essence, substantiates that in the absence of the spiritual foundations of being an individual is transformed into a unified one-dimensional person, which leads to the loss of meaning in life that is reduced and relegated to material values as fundamental ones in such a society; and shows that it is necessary to consider the ontological nature reasons and ethical mechanisms action for identifying the essence of mass society phenomenon and the subject of this society.
