Abstract. The author considers the elements of social regression in R. Guenon’s conception and their topicality in the modern Russian society, pays special attention to the problem of the interaction between the cultures of different civilizations in the process of social development, and tends to show that the overcoming of regressive tendencies in modern Russia is impossible without constructing a new model of social progress, directed to the use of the Russian cultural matrix as a source of development.
