JEWISH POGROMS WITHIN POLESYE REGION TERRITORY IN 1905

Abstract. In the article the author, basing on archival materials, periodical press and other sources, analyzes the reasons and character of the Jewish pogroms that took place within Polesye region territory in 1905. This period pogroms, in spite of the fixed opinion, were not inspired by official power and were not a result of the Christian population’s hatred of the Jews, they were mostly provoked with active revolutionary propaganda and local peasants’ wish to profit by another’s property.
