Abstract. The article reveals the essence and meaning of information policy in local government system. By the example of the administration of the urban district - Volzhsky town in Volgograd region the process of the transformation of informative-communicative activity under the conditions of power change is considered. Basing on the analysis of the data gathered during social study the author determines the key problems of the information policy of this municipality as well as the further perspectives of its development.
