STALINIST CONCEPT "SLAVES’ REVOLUTION" AND COGNITIVE SITUATION IN THE NATIONAL HISTORICAL SCIENCE IN 1933-1934

Abstract. The article provides a description of the cognitive situation in the environment of the professional community of Soviet historians in the light of Stalin’s statements about the "slaves’ revolution" that crushed Rome. The paper highlights factors that determined the position and functions of Soviet historians of ancient times of that period, who provided consistent entering of the Stalinist conception into scientific environment. The author gives a characteristic of Soviet historians’ research tasks, who were puzzled with the need to reveal the mechanics of historical transition from antiquity to the Middle Ages in the course of the ideas expressed by Stalin in 1933-1934.
