RUSSIAN PRESS ABROAD OF 1921 ON PEASANT REBELLION IN TAMBOV REGION

Abstract. The publications of 1921 in Russian newspapers abroad describe the events of the peasant rebellion in Tambov province and throw light on their perception in Russian ?migr? circles. Comparing the publications in Russian newspapers abroad and Soviet newspapers the author concludes on mythologization of A. S. Antonov’s image by both the Communist and ?migr? press. It is shown that the ?migr? press denounced the communist ideologists’ attempt to lay responsibility for economic collapse on the peasant rebellion and personally on A. S. Antonov.
